Your kid wrote a book. Let’s print it.
Your child draws the pages on paper. I Wrote That Book turns their drawings and their words into a real hardcover picture book, with their name on the cover.
- $27.99 for a 24-page hardcover

From the kitchen table to a real hardcover
About 20 minutes of grown-up time. The rest is all them.

-
1
Draw it
Crayons, markers, any paper. One drawing is one page. Eight pages make a book.
-
2
Scan it
Hold the phone over each page. The app straightens it, cleans up the paper and keeps every color they chose.
-
3
Tell it
They type the words, or you type what they say. Stuck? "Help me write" offers ideas that fit their story, and they choose.
-
4
Print it
You check the book and order. A real person on our team looks at every page, then it’s printed as a 5.5 × 8.5 in hardcover and mailed to you.
It’s really their book
Not a photo album of their art. Not a story a computer made up. A book they made, start to finish.
- Every page inside is their own drawing. We never draw over it or replace it.
- Their words, their spelling. Spelling help stays off unless you turn it on.
- “by Maya” on the cover, under the title they chose and one of their own drawings.
- Help only when they ask. "Help me write" suggests three ideas that fit their story. They pick, change or ignore them.

Built for grown-ups to trust
Your child makes the book. You own the account, and you decide what happens to it.
- First name only. No last names, birthdays or photos of your child, ever.
- No ads, no tracking. Not in the app, not on this site. No cookies.
- Private by default. Books are never public. Share a private link only if you want to.
- A real person checks every book before it prints, and flags anything like a last name or a school.
- You give consent first. We ask a grown-up’s permission before your child scans a single page, as COPPA requires.
- Delete anytime. Download or erase every page and caption from the privacy center.
Every book helps another kid read
10% of our profit from every book goes to a children’s literacy charity, which puts new books into the hands of children who need them most. The last page of your child’s book names the literacy charity it supports.
How our giving works →
Homeschooling? Every child at the table, their own book
If you already write down their narrations, you’re halfway to a book. Each child makes their own at their own level, and you keep the free PDF with your records.
For homeschool families →Questions grown-ups ask
How many pages does my child need?
Eight drawings make a good short book, and there’s room for many more. One drawing is one page. We add “The End” and two short closing pages.
What ages is it for?
Kids about 4 to 10 make the books. A grown-up owns the account, checks the book and places the order.
Does AI write the story?
Only if your child asks for ideas, and then they pick, change or ignore every word. Every page inside the book is their own drawing. If you choose a cover painted from their pages, it’s labeled as AI-made.
When can I get it?
We’re finishing up for the App Store and Google Play. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when the app opens.
What if a page prints badly?
Tell us and we’ll reprint it at no cost. Our team also checks print quality before every book goes to the printer.
