How it works
From crayons on the kitchen table to a hardcover in your mailbox. About 20 minutes of grown-up time; the rest is all them.
1 Draw it
Your child draws on paper with whatever they like: crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint. One drawing is one page of the book. Eight drawings make a good short book, and there’s room for many more.
- Any paper works. Printer paper, the back of a worksheet, a page from a sketchbook.
- Our free drawing sheets help. They’re half a letter page, the exact shape of the book, so a stack folds into a paper booklet. Small marks in the corners let the app straighten each page exactly. Download the drawing sheets (PDF)
- Color the background if they want. A drawing on plain paper keeps a clean white page. A page they colored edge to edge is printed edge to edge.
2 Scan it
A grown-up holds the phone over each page. The app finds the page, straightens it, cleans up the paper and keeps every color they chose. If a page comes out crooked, you can move its corners by hand.
The photo can show more than the page, like a hand or the kitchen table, so the app keeps only the straightened page. The original photo is kept for 30 days in case you want to crop it again, then deleted.
3 Tell it
Kids who can type add their own words to each page. Younger kids tell a grown-up what the page says, and the grown-up types it. Their words are printed the way they wrote them: spelling help stays off unless you turn it on.
“Help me write,” honestly. If your child is stuck, they can ask for ideas. The app suggests three short captions that fit their drawing and their story so far, and they pick one, change it or ignore all three. It’s off unless they ask, and every suggestion is checked for safety before your child sees it.
4 Pick a cover
The cover shows their title, “by” and their name, and one of their own drawings. You can also choose a cover painted from their pages, which is made by AI and labeled that way. Every page inside is always their own drawing.
5 Check it, order it, read it
A grown-up looks through the whole book and orders it. Then a real person on our team checks every page for safety and print quality before it goes to the printer. If a page shows something personal, like a last name or a school, we tell you so you can change it.
The book is printed as a 5.5 × 8.5 in hardcover, full color on every page, and mailed to you. It arrives in about 1 to 2 weeks. You only pay once our team approves it for print.
