Questions grown-ups ask

Making a book
How many pages does my child need?
Eight drawings make a good short book, and there’s room for many more. One drawing is one page. We add “The End” and two short closing pages.
What ages is it for?
Kids about 4 to 10 make the books. A grown-up owns the account, checks the book and places the order.
Does AI write the story?
Only if your child asks for ideas, and then they pick, change or ignore every word. Every page inside the book is their own drawing. If you choose a cover painted from their pages, it’s labeled as AI-made.
What paper and crayons work?
Any paper and anything that makes a mark: crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint. Our free drawing sheets are half a letter page, the exact shape of the book, and their corner marks help the app straighten each page exactly.
Will the app fix my child’s spelling?
No. Their words are printed the way they wrote them. Spelling help stays off unless you turn it on, and even then they choose.
Can my child type, or can I type for them?
Either. Kids who can type add their own words. Younger kids tell a grown-up what each page says, and the grown-up types it.
Ordering and price
How much does a book cost?
$27.99 for a 24-page 5.5 × 8.5 in hardcover, with US shipping included. Shorter books cost the same. Extra copies in the same order are $21 each. Sales tax is added where it applies.
When can I get it?
We’re finishing up for the App Store and Google Play. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when the app opens.
How long does printing take?
About 1 to 2 weeks after you order. A real person on our team checks the book first, then it’s printed and mailed to you.
What if a page prints badly?
Tell us and we’ll reprint it at no cost. Our team also checks print quality before every book goes to the printer.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay when you order a book, and the card is charged only after our team approves the book for print.
Can I get a digital copy?
Yes. Every book can be saved as a PDF, free.
Safety and privacy
What do you know about my child?
A first name or nickname, and an age band if you give one. Never a last name, birthday, photo or email address.
Who can see my child’s book?
You, and the people on our team who check it before it prints. Books are never public. You can make a private share link if you want to.
Do you show ads or track my child?
No. The app has no ads and no analytics or tracking tools, and this website sets no cookies.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. A grown-up can download or delete every page, caption and book from the app’s privacy center at any time.
Teachers
Do I need an account?
No. You need a class code only if you want families to get a discount, and you can ask for one after launch. Teacher accounts, coming soon, are only for scanning the pages in class.
What about students without a smartphone at home?
The paper booklet is a finished book on its own: the drawing sheets fold into one. Families can also scan at a relative’s house or the library.
Can I scan the pages in class?
Soon, with a teacher account. You’ll scan each student’s pages on your phone and email each parent an invitation; the parent gives consent, then finishes and orders the book at home. Until a parent joins, the class keeps only a first name and the scans, and they’re deleted if no one joins. Until teacher accounts open, families scan at home.
Does it work for older grades?
Yes. Grades 6 to 12 use it for picture-book projects and for buddy books written for younger readers.
How long should I allow before a publishing party?
Printing takes about 1 to 2 weeks after a family orders. Plan the party for about three weeks after the pages go home.
What do you check before a book prints?
Every page, for safety and print quality. If a page shows something like a last name or a school name, we tell the family.
